Living in Brisbane

Brisbane is the capital of Queensland, and is the third largest city in Australia, behind Sydney and Melbourne.

Brisbane enjoys great weather usually all year round, and offers lots of facilities to get outside and enjoy the beaches and parks. 

South Bank Brisbane

Brisbane has a modern public transport system, with connecting train and bus networks, that can even take you to places like the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast.

There are also plenty of bike paths around the city, so it's easy to get around cheaply.

South bank park lands is just a short walk from the central city, and is an ideal place to relax on weekends or evenings. 

With an artificial beach swimming area overlooking the Brisbane river, plenty of cafes, restaurants and weekend markets, you're sure to have a relaxing fun time.

There is a vibrant night life in Brisbane, with plenty of different bars and restaurants.

There are lots of dance classes in the city, with some hosted for the South American cultures.

Try the Latin dancing most Friday nights near the Casino in the city, for a great chance to meet some of the locals, and other students in Brisbane.

Looking to meet some of the native Australian animals?

Only a short 30 minute trip from the Brisbane CBD and you can visit this wild life sanctuary and get up close and personal with famous Australian's like the Kangaroo and Koala.

Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is only a short drive from Brisbane, and there you will find one of the most popular tourist destinations in Australia. 

You can enjoy the famous beaches of Surfers Paradise, or the surf beaches at locations like Burliegh Heads or Currumbin beach.  The Gold Coast really is a great place to experience the Australian lifestyle on your weekends or holiday periods.

Surf Lessons

Surfing lessons are available, and you can either join in with a group lesson, or have your own private instructor take you for a lesson. Surf boards are supplied for the lessons, or are cheap to hire if you are already confident, and just want to catch some great waves yourself.

Theme Parks

There are some great theme parks on the Gold Coast, which you should visit while studying in Australia. 

From Warner Bros Movie World, Wet and Wild, Australian Outback Spectacular, or Sea World, there is lots to explore and great fun to be experienced.

Whether you end up taking part in a show shearing sheep, or just find some kangaroos to pat, you will really have the opportunity to meet some of Australia's famous animals, and learn the countries great history and culture.

It's easy to book on a group tour which will take you out from the Gold Coast to find whales. 

It truly is an amazing experience to get up close with these great creatures.

Tropical islands

Take a ferry to visit one of the beautiful tropical islands that lie just off the coast of Queensland, including Fraser island which is the worlds largest sand island.

You can see dolphins, scuba dive, enjoy the beach, and you might even sight a wild dingo strolling on the beach.
